Welcome back to planDisney, Anna! Yes, Disney Gift Cards can be used for your onboard account. I do this often, so I am happy to answer your question.
There are a couple of ways to apply your Disney Gift Card to your stateroom folio. First, you can purchase Onboard Credit with a Disney Gift Card, and your stateroom folio will be credited with that amount before you step on the ship. Onboard Credit can be purchased by logging into the Disney Cruise Line website, navigating to the Already Booked tab, and clicking on
Onboard Gifts. You will need either your reservation number or sail date along with your name.
Second, you can stop by Guest Services at any time during your sailing to apply the Disney Gift Card to your stateroom folio. It is helpful to know the amount that is on the gift card when you arrive at Guest Services so they will not need to look it up. I prefer to purchase Onboard Credit so I won't need to wait in the Guest Services line. The Disney Gift Card amount will go toward any purchases made on your Onboard account, including
Port Adventures,
merchandise purchases, and
adult-exclusive dining.
If you have multiple Disney Gift Cards, you can visit the
Disney Gift Card website to combine them up to $1000 per card so you won't need to keep up with multiple cards. As I buy gift cards and receive them as gifts throughout the year, this website becomes very useful. Whether you use multiple gift cards or one, make sure to save the gift card(s) just in case you receive a refund for any remaining balance that you do not use during your sailing; it will be going back to the gift card.
Anna, if you have any other questions, you know where to find us.
