Can a Disney gift card be my preferred method of payment

It's time to spend some gift cards, Carrie! We here at planDisney are excited to welcome you and help you navigate payment methods via the My Disney Experience app. Let's throw some items in the cart, grab the newest ears off the shelf, and head to the checkout for an answer.

The My Disney Experience app recently received an update that will allow you to add a gift card as your preferred payment method for most purchases. To do this, open the app and click the hamburger menu (☰), scroll to the "Account" heading, and tap "MyDisney Wallet." Choose "Add a Payment Method," then scroll and select "Disney Gift Card." You'll be able to enter your card details from there, give it a nickname, and save the card information to your MyDisney Wallet.

If you have multiple cards to add, I have great news! This update allows you to add up to six gift cards and transfer balances between them. You can see your transaction history and pull up a scannable barcode on mobile devices, too. Solid!

There are a few things you'll need to keep in mind as you enjoy this new gift card freedom. You won't be able to reload funds to increase the balance on a stored gift card, and you won't be able to purchase Lightning Lane passes. Other than that, the sky is the limit!

Some of my favorite places to use Disney gift cards are Disney's Pin Traders (especially on Pin Drop Tuesday), The Daily Poutine, and Creations Shop. I'm sure you'll find a nice mix of merchandise and snacks to use your gifts cards on, too!

Come back and see us if you have more planning questions, Carrie! It's been a pleasure to assist you.

    Stay magical,
    Scott
