    Hello Disney friends! I’m running my first runDisney 5K in a couple weeks. I saw we pick up our race packet at ESPN Wide World of Sports. Do I have to join the virtual queue just to get my race packet, or only if I want to walk through the expo? Thanks!

    Hi there, Kristin! Welcome back to planDisney! 

    First of all, a huge congratulations on taking on your very first runDisney 5K! I admire your hard work and dedication to training for this challenge at the Disney Princess Half Marathon later this month. I completed my first runDisney event last November, and I am too excited to begin training for my next one: The Disney Pixar Toy Story 10-Miler! So, let's strap on our running shoes, and take a closer look at your question. 

    The Virtual Queue system is relatively new for the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo. You'll be happy to hear that you only need to use this system via the My Disney Experience app if you want to access the AdventHealth Arena to browse the runDisney merchandise. You do not need to join a virtual queue to pick up your race bib and participant t-shirt. (Do keep in mind that usually the race bib and participant t-shirt pick-up locations are different. Don't be like me and leave your complimentary shirt behind.) 

    If you would like to peruse the merchandise, you'll want to follow these steps in the My Disney Experience app: 
    -Select "Join Virtual Queue."
    -Select "runDisney Merchandise Shop" at 8:30 a.m. EST on the first day. (The Expo does not begin until 10 a.m. EST.) 
    -Select your Guests (up to 6 people) and click "Join Virtual Queue" again. 
    -When it's your time, you'll have one hour to head to the arena with your digital entry code.
     
    AN EXTRA GEM: The virtual queue for merchandise shopping is only needed on the first day of the event. For your event, that would be Thursday, February 23, 2023. So, if you find yourself racing back to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on another day to pick up something you forgot earlier (*cough, cough* my t-shirt), feel free to hop into the AdventHealth Arena without needing access via the Virtual Queue system. However, I recommend visiting on day one because the stocked merchandise will be more plentiful.
