We are going to Disney for the first time this year with our 3 year old son. We want to go when things are not crowded. What do you recommend?

    Hi Laura,

One of the best things about traveling with a toddler is that you don't have to worry about pulling them out of school to avoid huge crowds!  My favorite time of year to head to Walt Disney World is mid-September.  For most people, school is just getting started, so a lot of families are trying to get back into the school routine.  The weather is still summery, so you can take advantage of pools and other water activities.

If early autumn doesn't fit into your schedule.  January (with the exception of New Year's Day and Martin Luther King Day weekend) is another quiet time to head to Walt Disney World.  My only complaint with this time of year is that you never know what type of weather you're going to get.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
