We are going to Disney for the first time next April; we hear it is a very busy time of year. We are planning to stay at one of the monorail resorts to simplify things. Our kids are 8, 6 and 4; which resort do you recommend?

    Hi Jennifer!

The three resorts on the monorail are all Disney Deluxe Resorts and are all wonderful.  The flagship is the Grand Floridian, but I don't think the theming is something children pick up on easily.  Thus I would recommend staying at the Contemporary or the Polynesian.

The Contemporary Resort is another resort where the theming may be lost on children, but I've never met a child who didn't think it was absolutely awesome that the monorail went through the hotel!  Also, the Contemporary is within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom, and it has one of the most popular Character Dining restaurants -- Chef Mickey's.

However, I would go with the Polynesian Resort.  Children definitely understand that theme and while it's not within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom, it is within walking distance of the Transportation and Ticket Center, giving you easy access to the Epcot monorail line in addition to the Magic Kingdom monorail line.  It also has a wonderful pool that children of all ages love!

By the way, I recommend picking up the book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It's a great book for first timers with just the right amount of information, without being overwhelming.  It's also a beautiful book full of color photographs.  It will definitely help in the planning of your magical vacation!
