Hi Kiley! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and honeymoon at Walt Disney World! I can't think of a better place to celebrate a special occasion. May is an especially wonderful time to vacation in the Walt Disney World Resort. The crowds are fairly light, the weather is gorgeous, and the
Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival will be in full bloom. What a fabulous backdrop for your romantic getaway!
When my husband and I spend time in Walt Disney World without our children, our favorite thing to do is enjoy a nice meal together. I will share with you a few of my favorite places to dine as a couple in each the four major theme parks. Be sure to peruse the menus to see which restaurants appeal to you and your fiancé's tastes, and make Advanced Dining Reservations to secure a table.
At the Magic Kingdom Park, I highly recommend
Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen. This immersive, Jungle Cruise-inspired experience is an adventure in dining. If you don't mind hopping on the monorail, for a truly special and romantic evening, my very favorite spot in all of Walt Disney World is the
California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort. If you schedule a meal during Magic Kingdom fireworks, you'll have an incredible view of the show.
Over at my favorite park, Epcot, my favorite places that combine both tasty food and lovely atmosphere are the
San Angel Inn and
Spice Road Table.
At Disney's Hollywood Studios, my husband and I adore the Cobb Salad at the
Hollywood Brown Derby. This restaurant also offers some fun beverage flights and unique appetizers. The adjacent
Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge offers a more casual atmosphere.
If your honeymoon includes time at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, you are in for a culinary treat. On a recent trip, I dined at
Yak and Yeti™ Restaurant for the first time, and I can't wait to go back! If you and your fiancé enjoy Asian-inspired dishes, then this restaurant is a must-do.
I could talk about Disney food all day, but I also want to offer some advice on the
Disney Villain's After Hours at Magic Kingdom Park. While I haven't done this event, I have done other after hours events at the Magic Kingdom, and my advice is GO! These events are a fantastic way to experience unique entertainment and ride the most popular attractions without waiting in line. I think two adults would get a lot out of the experience, and it would be a great way to cap off a half day at another park. Tip: make sure to return to your resort for a nap before the party since the park will be hopping until 1AM! Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance, as these events can sell out.
Kiley, I know you will have a wonderful honeymoon in Walt Disney World. Best wishes for you and your fiancé as you continue to plan your adventures as a married couple!
