Hi. We are going to Disney for the first time for our daughter's 5th birthday in Jan. 2013. We also have twin boys who will be 21 months old. Trying to figure out if we really need to be on monorail & if so should we do Contemporary or Polynesian?

    Hi Cindy!

What a great way to celebrate your daughter's birthday!  In my opinion, being on the monorail is key, especially with little ones.  Our favorite park is the Magic Kingdom, so be be staying in a resort on the monorail loop is extremely helpful.  If you don't have a car, you will need to use the buses for most other resorts or a ferry boat for transportation to the Magic Kingdom if you stay at Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness.

The Contemporary and the Polynesian are beautiful resorts, but completely different.  My favorite between the two is the Polynesian, which we have chosen for our vacation next week to celebrate our children's birthdays. (So excited!)  The theme of the Polynesian is tropical, so the grounds are lush and fun.  The Contemporary is super, well, contemporary.  Everything is sleek, clean, and modern.  I think this resort is wonderful, but only if you're staying in a tower room.  Staying in a garden room away from the main building kind of takes away from the draw of this resort.

How about letting your daughter decide!  Show her pictures of both resorts and ask her which one she would enjoy the most.  Make sure to view pictures of the Polynesian pool, which I think is totally cool with a volcano in the middle!

    Have a magical day!
