Ahoy there, Kelly! Thank you for reaching out to planDisney with your question.
As a teacher, I know that unpredictable loud noises can be stressful, especially for someone with autism. I'm happy to share some tips to ensure your son has an awesome time on the Disney Fantasy. Let's make his first impression a fantastic one!
If you want a quieter fanfare when boarding the ship, you can board without all the applause; just let the crew know when you arrive at the front of the line. Once on the ship, Disney Cruise Line offers several
services for Guests with autism. They are happy to assist and offer suggestions with wait times during the mandatory guest assembly drill, character lines, kids’ clubs, and more. If you have any questions, you can always speak to someone at Guest Services.
On embarkation day, please plan to arrive at the port at your Port Arrival Time listed on the Port Arrival Form. Arriving during your scheduled time helps alleviate some of the crowds at the terminal. While the wait in the terminal is usually minimal, you might want to pack a few snacks or a favorite electronic device to help pass the time for your son.
If you appreciate structure and predictability, you'll love the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app – it's like having a personal guide right in your pocket! You can sit down with your family and explore all the activities offered during your sailing, making planning your days easier. Let's say you come across an animation class you're interested in. You can mark it as a favorite by selecting the heart icon next to the listing, and the app will remind you 15 minutes before it starts. This way, you can relax knowing you won't miss a thing.
As you embark on this adventure with your son, remember you're not alone. The crew is there to support you every step of the way. Safe travels, and may your cruise be filled with joy and wonderful memories!
SEAS the adventure!
