We are going on the Disney Dream for November 2018 and will be celebrating my son's 8th birthday. He is excited about the Oceaneers club and was wondering if it's possible to be a part of the "rope drop" for the club on Embarkation day.

    Ahoy, Renee!

I can't imagine a more magical way to celebrate a birthday than with a Disney Cruise Line vacation. I have a feeling his 8th birthday might be remembered as his best birthday EVER! From the moment your family is welcomed onto the ship, you'll be treated like VIPs, with magical moments from beginning to end. Having a birthday boy in your sailing party only make those moments all the more magical!

I'm happy to hear you're planning to make the most of your vacation by taking advantage of the amazing Youth Clubs. With attentive, well-trained Youth Counselors, fun activities, crafts, games, and more, the clubs are the place to be for cruisers ages 3-17. Your son would be assigned to the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab, for ages 3-12. Time in the Youth Club is included in the cost of your cruise, and your son can visit as often as he likes throughout your sailing!

While there is no official "rope drop" for the Youth Clubs for your son to participate in, he will certainly get plenty of attention while celebrating his special day. I encourage you to stop by the Guest Services Desk and pick up a birthday celebration button so everyone will know about his big day! A quick call to Disney Cruise Line at (800)951-3532, and you can add a note to your reservation that you have a birthday boy in your sailing party. This information will be shared with your serving team in the Main Dining restaurants, and they're sure to do a little something special to celebrate!

Another fun idea is to order something festive from the Gifts and Amenities page on the Disney Cruise Line website. From Celebration Cakes to Stateroom Decorations, there are lots of ways to sprinkle your sailing with a bit of extra birthday pixie dust!

I hope this helps with your planning, and that your son has an amazing birthday onboard! - Diane W.
