going on disney dream may 2011. i have a daughter who will be 6. would like to find another family who has a child around the same age and become familiar with them, so that my child will have a playmate. we dont leave her with childcare. we stay with her.

    Hi Tracy,

Welcome to the Moms Panel!  How exciting you've got your cruise booked on the Dream - I'm sailing in June 2011 on this ship and it can't get here fast enough!  If you haven't already seen it, be sure to check out this new video to see how the construction is coming along.

I understand your concern, and first let me tell you that in my experience the programming counselors have permitted and encouraged parents to accompany their children into the clubs if it makes them more comfortable.  As an adult, you will be given a "guest" pass to enter with your daughter - which is a nice way to get a feel for the club, and witness your childs comfort level first hand.

There are plenty of ways to find others that may be taking the same voyage as you.  One of the most popular sites I've seen is www.disboards.com, they have an entire section dedicated to the Disney Cruise Line and within that there are "cruise meet" threads.  Here you will find others that are on the same voyage as you, and it tends to be a great pre-cruise bonding experience for many.  Now I do have to put my "mom" two cents in, and just advise you to use caution.  Keep in mind that as Disney-friendly as these sites may appear, it is still entirely public.  I never suggest posting information such as your stateroom location or home address in this type of venue.  As harmless as it may seem, you never truly know who is lurking on those types of boards.  So I don't want to discourage you from seeking out fellow cruisers, just keep the amount of personal/identifiable information about you and your daughter to a minimum, anyone with the right intention will understand.

    Hope this helps!
