Will be on the Disney Dream Halloween cruise departing 10/2. My question is do the cabins have a mini fridge and does it have the freezer compartment? I am wanting to bring and ice pack for a sore knee.

Welcome a-boo-ard planDisney, Gail! What a wonderful time to cruise on the Disney Dream! I've taken several Halloween on the High Seas cruises with Disney Cruise Line, and they sure know how to bring the treats with minimal tricks. Between the festive decorations, the lighting of The Enchanted Pumpkin Tree, special Halloween programming like Mickey's Mouse-Querade, meet-and-greets with characters in their Halloween costumes and trick-or-treating, they take an already fantastic Disney Cruise and elevate it, or shall I say levitate it, up a few notches. Thanks for asking your question.

I'm so sorry to hear that you have a sore knee, yet you've come to the right place. I have personal experience with dealing with knee problems while cruising. Unless you're staying in one of the royal suites or the tower suite, the staterooms have beverage coolers which are designed to keep drinks cold, but they aren't typically cold enough to keep food at a safe temperature. They also don't have a freezer compartment. That being said, on the first day when you meet your stateroom host or hostess, let him or her know you'd like ice on hand. Your room will be serviced twice per day, and your host or hostess will make sure the ice bucket is full at each servicing.

When my mom had knee issues on one of our cruises, our host was very attentive and even checked on her outside of normal servicing. He made sure we were aware that the Health Center was available to her if she needed it and even talked her through how to get there should it become necessary. Thankfully, the ice did the trick. I do recommend that you bring zip top bags to put the ice in, and what worked for her was wrapping the bag of ice in a towel to protect her skin from direct contact with the ice.

I have another tip for you. If your knee issues prevent you from being able to stand, see a Cast Member before the deck shows if you need to sit in the accessible section.

Gail, I hope this has been helpful to you and that you have a spooktacular time on your Disney Cruise. Visit us again if you have other planning questions we can help with.

    Grab hold of your dreams!
