Hello, we are going to the Disney dream cruise from Miami from Dec 24 through Dec 29. What activities will they have in the ship… formal night? Meet and greet with Santa? Fireworks? Please advise. Thanks!

Hello there, Ingrid! Welcome back to planDisney. Thanks for sailing our way again.

Oh, what fun plans you have for the holiday season! I can honestly say that the year my family sailed on a Very Merrytime cruise was one of our jolliest holidays ever. There will be so much to enjoy onboard, so let's dive into it.

The moment you step onboard, you'll be walking onto a ship that is decked from bow to stern in holiday decor. You can't miss the giant gingerbread display right off the atrium. Be sure to walk by often to spot lots of fun details within. Once you are onboard, you'll be able to see exactly what is scheduled in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. The entertainment can vary from sailing to sailing, but your Cruise Director will be as busy as the residents of the North Pole as they put plans into place.

You might enjoy a special holiday tree lighting, storytime with Mrs. Claus, a meet-and-greet with Santa Claus himself, or a special Winter Wonderland Ball! You'll definitely spot Disney Characters throughout the ship donning their holiday best. There will be themed activities and crafts geared towards the youngest sailors too. Trust me.. it will be very, very merry indeed! As your cruise will be sailing on Christmas Eve, you can even expect to enjoy Christmas Eve cookies and the opportunity to carol with Crew Members as well.

It looks like the second evening of your voyage is scheduled to be an "optional dress-up night" where many guests will be wearing formal or semi-formal attire. Cruise casual clothing is always welcome in the main dining restaurants on board, so please dress as you feel comfortable. The third night of your voyage is tentatively scheduled as Pirate Night. On Pirate Night, guests can expect pirate-themed activities, dinner, and a special buccaneer bash complete with late-night fireworks. Entertainment is always subject to change, so please keep that in mind as you prepare for your sailing. For example, on a recent cruise, our pirate festivities took place one day early to take advantage of a night with clear weather.

I hope that information helps you feel well prepared for the festive fun that lies ahead! If you would like to hear more about Very Merrytime sailings, I encourage you to listen to or watch episode three of the planDisney podcast. I had a chance to chat with my fellow panelists all about the special holiday sailings onboard Disney Cruise Line.

    Have a very merry time!
