Howdy partner!
Welcome to planDisney! Jennifer, you are going to have a rootin’ tootin’ good time during your adventure at sea with Captain Mickey! With Disney Cruise Line, I can always count on being
immersed in all the magic…“to infinity and beyond!” Some of our favorite family vacations have been on Disney ships, including the beautiful
Disney Dream.
In 2018, the Disney Dream had some refurbishments in dry dock, and one of those was to replace the Arr-cade with
Vanellope's Sweets and Treats (Deck 11, Aft) which serves frozen yogurt, gelato, and artisan sundaes sure to give Guests a “Sugar Rush.”
Let me give you and your crew some ideas for substitutes for an arcade:
-
Goofy's Sports Deck (Deck 13, Aft) is one of the reasons my kids prefer the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy of all the Disney ships. My son could play sports games all day long! The Sports Simulator at Goofy's Sports Deck offers golf as well as soccer, baseball, basketball, hockey and football. Reservations for the Sports Simulator are an added cost and come in 30 minute or 60 minute sessions for up to 4 players. FYI: Sports Simulator participants ages 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult, and guests ages 14 to 17 must be accompanied by at least one other Guest their same age or older. Finally, if you have a change in plans, make sure to cancel the reservation at least one day prior to avoid a cancellation fee.
-”Reach for the sky”...with your putter! Another great game that’s also in the great outdoors is the 9-hole miniature golf course dubbed "
Goofy Golf." My family loves to play mini golf...even if things do get slightly competitive! Other sporty games/activities onboard include ping-pong, foosball, shuffleboard, a running track, and a basketball court.
-For kids still wanting to experience video games and arcade-like games, the
Youth Clubs offer plenty of opportunities for that! Between
Disney's Oceaneer Club for ages 3-12, Edge tween club for ages 11-14, and the teen-exclusive Vibe for ages 14-17, there's games, karaoke, dancing, movies and so much more. On the Disney Dream,
Vibe boasts a high-tech media room, where teens can play video games on a 103ʺ LCD screen with surround sound. Meanwhile,
Edge on the Disney Dream has a state-of-the-art video wall that is almost as tall as I am at 5 feet tall and 18 feet wide with 18 individual LCD screens! So I’ll bet your family won’t even miss an arcade with all these offerings.
Jennifer, I hope you know that “You’ve got a Friend in Me” and the rest of the planDisney panelists. As you make your cruise plans, don’t hesitate to activate “The Claw” by sending us more questions. I will be thrilled to say, “I have been chosen” and help you make the most of your Disney Cruise Line vacation!
