I have the disney dining plan for 4 . Two adults and 2 children. I have already started to book some advanced reservations, but wanted to know if Its best to book ALL dining reservations? Can we just walk into any participating restaurant without them?

Hi Debbie!  You did not mention the dates of your trip so I will just have to give you my earnest thoughts on this no matter when you visit Disney!

The Advanced Dining Reservations are one of the most important pieces to a Disney vacation. This is especially true when booking the dining plan packages.  During slower times you might have luck walking up to a restaurant on property but even then it is likely to be at off hours such as mid afternoon or late at night. Most families find that hard to alter their eating habits and dine with children who are usually not eating at those times.

I strongly suggest you make all of your dining reservations ahead of time. Make a general itinerary so you know what park you might be visiting and then see if you can get any park dining reservations for those days.  Then check out all the great resort restaurants and choose some meals that can be experienced there. Our family does not use the dining plan but we do try to make one table service reservation each day so we are forced to slow down and rest for at least one meal.

Your best bet is to make the reservations now as you will have the opportunity to pick where you want to go versus going only where there is availability once you are there.
