Disney dining plan question. Traveling with in-laws in the same room. I don’t ever charge back to the room and I sure don’t want to use my card on file for their tips and extras at meals. How is this handled in this situation?

Hiya, Michelle! Welcome back to planDisney and thanks for bringing us your delicious dining plan question!

My family has enjoyed using the Disney Dining Plan on past vacations because it helps us create a snack and dining strategy. We monitor the Disney Parks Blog and social media to see what new foods will be available during our stay and designate our dining credits accordingly. Spreadsheets may or may not be involved.

While you are visiting Walt Disney World with your in-laws—or any time you’re at the Vacation Kingdom—you can pay for tips or any extra charges at the dining location using any accepted form of payment. You are not restricted to only using the card on file at your resort hotel. To avoid any financial frustration, you can ask your server for separate checks or to split the bill between multiple forms of payment for you and your in-laws.

If a charge is accidentally made to your room and on-file credit card during your visit, just stop by the front desk of your hotel and they will help you out. I’ve had family trips where we planned to use gift cards and I would make a point of stopping by the front desk each evening to resolve any purchases before our credit card was charged. The Cast Members were always super friendly and helpful.

I hope this information helps with your vacation planning, Michelle. You’ll be visiting Walt Disney World at such a magical time, as the spooky season changes over to a wonder of the winter holidays. Come right back to planDisney if you have any other questions. We’re always happy to help!

    Magical travels!
