We have the Disney Dining plan purchased, just wondering how gratuities work? At dining restaurants are you required to leave a tip...if so how much is required?

    Hi Crystal,

Thank you for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.  Congratulations on purchasing the Disney Dining Plan, it is a great way to enjoy some of the fabulous dining options available at Walt Disney World Resort.

At Table-Service Dining Locations, it is recommended that guests leave gratuity for the Cast Member who has provided the service, however it is not included in your Disney Dining Plan.  At the end of your meal, the Cast Member will bring your cheque and at the bottom, there will be a suggested amount for gratuity, typically 18% and 20%.  Guests are able to choose the amount of gratuity they are comfortable leaving, and then there are several options to settle the charge.  Guests can use their MagicBand if it is set up for room charges, credit card, cash or Disney Gift Card.  I like to purchase a Disney Gift Card at the beginning of my visit and use it specifically for gratuity, I find it is an easy way to keep track of what I have spent.

Signature Dining Locations will also require gratuity, as well as any of the lounges or bars on Walt Disney World  Resort property.  At Quick-Service Dining Locations, gratuity isn't required, nor is it required for certain dinner shows such as The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue and Mickey's Backyard BBQ as it is included in the cost.

I hope that helps, Crystal.  Please let us know if you have any other questions, we are always happy to help.
