Hello Amy, and welcome to planDisney.
What a fabulous question. I am a big fan of using
Disney Gift Cards instead of carrying cash or using my credit card. Using a gift card feels like I'm treating myself to prepaid "extras," whether yummy snacks, meals, or fun souvenirs! Plus, using a Disney Gift Card keeps me on a budget, which makes my trip even more enjoyable. It's such a great way to soak up all the magic without the worry of overspending!
A
Disney Dining Plan is a delicious way to prepay for your food- one of the "bare necessities of life." You can "forget about your worries and your strife" and enjoy your Walt Disney World vacation. Whether you plan on dining at
50's Prime Time Café or
The Crystal Palace, the magical wait staff's gratuities are not included in the dining plan. I often use my Disney Gift Cards to pay for my restaurant gratuities. However, I wanted to double-check your inquiry about using your gift card only for gratuities. I'm excited to share that a friendly Cast Member assured me it is absolutely allowed! They also suggested mentioning upfront that you will use the Disney Dining Plan and would like to pay your gratuities with your gift card.
The Disney Dining Plan also includes a Resort refillable mug. As a coffee enthusiast, I want to remind you that you can use your mug for fountain drinks from your Resort hotel and for your morning (afternoon or evening) coffee, too!
Amy, I hope you have the most wonderful trip. Enjoy the attractions, shows, and all the foods shaped like Mickey! Stop by planDisney anytime!
Happy planning,
Shonette
