Ahoy Stephanie,
Welcome to planDisney! And thanks for stopping by with your question about the rotational dining on the Disney Destiny.
During your seven-night sailing on the Destiny, Formal Night will be on Day 4, which is a relaxing day at sea. Pirate Night is the next evening after your visit to the port in Cozumel. And Semi-Formal Night is on Day 6, following your stop at Grand Cayman. Please note that this is the schedule as of today and is subject to change.
You are under no obligation to dress up for any of these themed evenings, but I find they add extra fun to each cruise. Even something simple like tying a pirate kerchief around my neck on Pirate Night puts me in the mood for the evening's adventure.
To answer your question about how rotational dining works: On a seven-night cruise like yours, it does usually repeat in order with an interruption for Pirate Night. You get to experience each of the three main dining rooms --
Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King,
Worlds of Marvel and
1923 -- twice with a unique menu each time.
Though the assignments can vary, what you likely will find for your cruise is this: Restaurant 1 on the first and fourth nights, Restaurant 2 on the second and sixth nights and Restaurant 3 on the third and seventh nights.
On
Pirate Night, which is the fifth night, there's a common menu across the dining rooms. You will be assigned to one of the three restaurants for your pirate-y fare. And then, on to fireworks at sea!
One of the things I love about dining on Disney Cruise Line is that your serving team rotates with you through each restaurant. They quickly get to know you and your family and are terrific at remembering your preferences and needs.
Another thing I adore: You can order whatever you want on the menu. Choose a traditional meal of appetizer, entree and dessert. Get two entrees or two desserts. Or make a meal of every appetizer. Skip the entree and have a salad and a Mickey ice cream bar. It's all up to you.
Like you, Stephanie, I'm departing on the Disney Destiny soon. I've already been studying the descriptions of the ship's restaurants, lounges, activities, entertainment and features. If you haven't already done so, make sure you download the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. It's your window into the Destiny and has a countdown until your sailing time.
The app also is invaluable while you are on the ship to keep track of your plans, your dining, your Port Adventures and more. That's where you will find your rotational dining assignments and table number once you are onboard, too.
Happy planning, Stephanie. Please let us know if you have other questions as your Destiny awaits.
Enjoy,
Wilma
