Hello I am going to Disney in December for my daughters 6th birthday and I wanted to decorate the window like I have seen. What are the do and don’ts on this?

Hi, Heather! Decorating for your daughter's birthday will make her day absolutely supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Each time we visit, we love to walk around the resort and look for displays done by guests. We have seen everything from building block sets on the window ledges to prince and princess costumes hanging in the windows. With the costumes, they would hang a costume of the day and use window clings to spell out quotes from that specific Disney movie. The princess's tiara and shoes sat along the window sill, just waiting on the little princess to claim them for the day. So adorable!

Heather, I called once upon a time to ask about specific restrictions on this and was told that most anything would be fine, as long as the decorations did not alter the building or room in any way and that it was not a hazard of any kind. If you include lights, they need to be battery operated and can be hung best with tape or suction cup hangers. Since you do not want to leave any remnants or sticky residue, I find window clings to be a great option. Dollar stores and craft stores always have a great variety of these. Just in case you need window measurements, the windows in Value Resort rooms measure either 4' x 4' or 5' x 5'. The ones at Moderate Resorts measure 5' x 5'. The window sill ledges at all of those resorts tend to be 5"-6" deep. The windows at Deluxe and Deluxe Villas vary across each resort. If you need the measurements of one of those, please let me know and I will do my best to find it for you!

I hope this information helps you plan for a wonderful birthday surprise for your daughter. Please stop by again if you think of a specific decoration and wonder if it would be allowed. Also, take a look at all of the wondEARful ways Disney Floral and Gifts can help you plan an in-room celebration!
