Does Disney currently honor requests for smaller meals or entertainment only fee at character meals for patients that recently had Gastric Sleeve surgery? Patients often have a card from their doctor stating they can only eat a small child size portion of

    Hello Colleen,

Thanks for bringing this great question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Your Walt Disney World vacation is coming up soon- you must be so excited!

Planning meals and dining does take on new meaning after bariatric surgery.  I can understand your concern around portions and costs.  In my experience, you will have no issue ordering a children's meal at Disney's Quick-Service dining locations. And, some dining locations will likely allow you to order off of the children's menu after the need is explained.  Another option is to stick to appetizers or other smaller options.  However, I don't know of anyone that has had any luck getting a buffet or all-you-care-to-eat family style location to reduce the price from adult to child. There is currently no option for an entertainment only fee at Character Dining experiences.

Having had personal experiences with dramatic changes in my ability to eat a quantity of food, I would suggest that you consider going ahead and selecting food based on your preferences for taste and health, not necessarily portion size. While you may not be able to finish your plate,  it is more likely that you will enjoy your dining experience.

    See ya real soon,
    Anne
