We have a Disney cruise trip leaving from San Diego on May 2nd and would love to visit Disneyland on May 1st. We arrive on April 30th so would need a hotel for two days. What hotel do you recommend from April 30 to the 2nd? How can we get to Disneyland?

    Hiya Wilhelmina,

Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for submitting your question to us!

"Oh boy!" I’m so excited you plan on visiting the Disneyland Resort before sailing away on your Disney Cruise! Your visit dates will coincide with both the Star Wars Season of the Force and Pixar Fest! There will be so much to experience in the parks, so you’ll want to stay close by at a Disneyland Resort Hotel!

All three Disneyland Resort Hotels are magical, but the MOST magical of all is Disneyland Hotel! This iconic hotel is the original, and while it only had seven rooms when it first opened, the Resort Hotel now contains four themed towers for guests and DVC members that honor the lands found at Disneyland Park! The nostalgic artwork and magical touches in the rooms make you feel the magic of the Disney Parks right in your room!

Disneyland Hotel also offers proximity and early entry on select dates for both parks! The Resort Hotel is located right next to the Downtown Disney District and has a security checkpoint that is a much shorter wait compared to the checkpoint in front of the Esplanade! Then just a quick 5-10 minute walk through Downtown Disney District, and you're at the entrances to the parks! Be sure to review the Hours & Events Calendar to see which park has early entry on your visit dates!

Did you know you can also start your day off with character dining? This dining experience will have you spinning your napkin in the air! Grab a slice of Goofy’s Famous Peanut Butter Pizza and say hello to Goofy and pals at Goofy's Kitchen! If character dining is not for you, I recommend either Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill or Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar. If you do go to Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, be sure to order a Krakatoa Punch for a memorable experience!

But the most magical feature of all is the Sleeping Beauty headboards found in your hotel room! These headboards are unique to Disneyland Hotel, so you cannot experience them in the other Resort Hotels. Being lulled to sleep with a headboard that displays a magical light show and sings "When You Wish Upon a Star" is sure to be the highlight of your visit!

So go ahead and book a hotel reservation today! If you have other questions about the Disneyland Resort, remember - you’ve got a friend in me!
