    Disney cruise- what needs to be done when I first get on board? I heard getting a pager?etc...any direction is appreciated.

    Hi, Joe!

    Congratulations on your cruise aboard Disney Cruise Line (DCL)! One of the best things about a DCL vacation is that once you're on board, there isn't much that "needs" to be done -- it really is a matter of what you would like to do.

    If you have children traveling with you, I recommend registering them for the age-appropriate youth clubs online or at the port terminal. Then, when you arrive on board, you'll want to stop by the spaces in order to receive their Mickey Bands or special access cards (Vibe) for entry.  In each stateroom, which are usually ready for you around 1:30 p.m., there will be 2 wave phones -- which you'll use to keep up with other members of your traveling party.  Until then, you can use your cell phones on board without incurring international charges. Just remember to turn them off before 5 p.m. on Embarkation Day unless you have an international calling plan.

    If you want to make any reservations for the spa, adult dining (Palo, Remy), nursery or Port Adventures, you can see about these details when you're first on board. However, it's best to book these before you ever leave home. When our family first arrives on board, we like to grab a bite to eat and then change into our swimsuits. Or, we will play ping pong, basketball or a round of Goofy golf before the Sail-Away Celebration Deck Party! Of course, taking lots and lots of pictures when we're first on board is key for us, too. Once the staterooms are ready, we like to start unpacking our belongings in our home away from home for the next several days.
