Three Generations Aboard Ship; fireworks; night

    We are going on a disney cruise in March, my daughter wants to do the stingray adventure but must be accompanied by an adult. Do I have to purchase a ticket to accompany her?

    Ahoy, Marilyn -

    The Stingray Adventure is an educational and fun port adventure that is enjoyed by families when they visit Castaway Cay for the day. Children below 16 years old, who are participating in this activity are required to be accompanied by a ticketed adult. Entrance into the Stingray Hut will require a ticket for each guest as you make your way into the hut. You will first pick up you snorkel equipment and vests at the shack, and you'll walk into the hut to take a seat. You'll get a chance to learn from a marine specialist about stingrays and their current habitat. They share a lot of information about the fascinating life of the stingrays on the island. They'll also answer questions and walk you through what will happen during your adventure.

    I saw a lot of mixed reactions from kids and adults once we got into the water to start feeding the stingrays. There were a few kids who were very anxious, excited and squeamish once the stingrays started coming closer. I think having an adult right next to kids will help on this part, since kids get overly excited (and possibly turn scared quickly). The guide was awesome showing us how to feed the stingrays, but I think my kids would not have done that excursion without me :-). After you feed and touch the stingrays, you can snorkel around the lagoon with them and take some underwater camera shots too.

    I hope you both get to enjoy this port adventure -- it sure is different.
