Hi Amy!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! If you haven’t yet downloaded the
Navigator app and set your Cruise Countdown Clock yet, do so! You can watch the days tick by until your adventure at sea arrives…and once you are onboard you will definitely want to have access to all the information on the Navigator app.
Currently, Disney Cruise Line does not offer ground transportation from the airport in Fort Lauderdale for voyages that depart from the
Port of Miami. If flying into Fort Lauderdale is more convenient for your family, it’s totally possible! My family has always flown into Fort Lauderdale for Disney Cruise Line vacations and it was really no problem at all. We usually will rent a car one-way from the Fort Lauderdale airport to Miami because it allows us some flexibility and convenience. If we are there the night before embarkation, having our own vehicle is always helpful in order to get to dinner or pick up some last-minute essentials like water and wine! I recommend renting from a company that offers a shuttle to the cruise terminal so that once you drop it off, you can head straight to the port for embarkation. We have also utilized a car service if we are flying in the morning of embarkation and that, too, has been convenient. Just make sure to find a service that offers a set rate for the transfer to alleviate any uncertainty.
If you have yet to arrange your travel plans for your vacation and do end up flying directly into Miami, be aware that ground transfers through Disney Cruise Line need to be added to your reservation at least three days prior to embarkation.
Wishing you a MAGICal adventure at sea with many memories made!
Happy Sailing!
