Hi there, Derek!
Welcome to planDisney! We are happy to be the CANVAS for your Disney Cruise Line question. You could say we get very ANIMATED when Guests talk to us about their cruise plans.
I haven’t seen a caricature artist on Disney Cruise Line or over on
Castaway Cay before, but it does sound like a brilliant idea! If you are planning a land and sea vacation, then make sure you get the caricature done while at Walt Disney World. I’ve had several caricatures drawn before at Disney and always love the way that the artist captures parts of my personality in the creation!
The Art Corner by Artistic Talent Group, located at Disney Springs, is a dedicated space to talented Disney artists, and you can also find caricature artists at the theme parks. Besides, the natural beauty surrounding you on a Disney cruise and at Castaway Cay simply cannot be captured in caricature form!
Don’t worry though because art abounds on Disney ships!
Animator's Palate immediately pops into my mind with its terrific theming and dinner shows with amazing artistic technology. Dinner at Animator’s Palate brings beloved characters to life and surrounds Guests with animation in 360 degrees! As the characters are being sketched, we try to guess which one it will be and make a game of it!
Did you know that there are often classes teaching the art of animation offered? Even though I can’t even draw stick figures very well, I have been able to render a Mickey Mouse under the tutelage of skilled instructors during an animation class! And keep your eyes opened to the surprise towel art creations your Stateroom Host will leave for you in your stateroom. These fun and sometimes goofy characters are always so fun to guess what or who they are-although some are truly unmistakeable!
One of my favorite ways to learn more about Disney Cruise Line and the particular ship we are sailing is the Art of the Theme Show Tour. For adults 18 and up, this wonderful tour shares tidbits about the design and artistic details of the ship. Meanwhile, guests of all ages can participate in the Walking Ship Tour. This one is especially useful when we are new to a Disney ship; it lets us set our bearings and quickly acclimate to where everything is! These informative tours are available on all Captain Minnie’s ships and do not require a reservation. To find times and locations for these tours and classes, check the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.
Derek, I hope this has painted a picture of how much art will surround you on your adventure at sea. Have a spectacular cruise!
