Hello! I am going on a Disney cruise later this month! I live in New York City. I was going to use an NYCID and Birth Certificate to get on the cruise. I was just wondering if this would be suffice. Thank you!

    Hello, Cole!

Thanks for stopping by planDisney. I'm excited that you will be sailing with the Disney Cruise Line later this month! You are going to have an amazing time!

Travel documentation can vary depending on your itinerary, so I always recommend checking the Passports, Visas & Citizenship Documentation page on the Disney Cruise Line website for the most accurate details. For most round‑trip cruises departing from the United States, adults can typically board with a valid physical government‑issued photo ID paired with an original state‑issued birth certificate. Kids under 15 can use either a valid U.S. passport or a state‑issued birth certificate.

Since I’m not a New York resident, I can’t say for sure whether an NYCID meets the requirements. From what I’ve found, it might qualify, but I strongly recommend contacting Disney Cruise Line by phone or chat as soon as possible so a Cast Member can confirm it for you. It’s always best to have peace of mind before you head to the port!

Once your documentation is squared away, be sure to download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. It’s basically your Fairy‑Godmother‑approved planning tool for everything onboard! My family loves checking the daily schedule each morning to pick out activities, and I always peek at the dinner menus ahead of time. You can also use the app to message others in your travel party, which is super helpful if your phone doesn’t support regular texting at sea. As a side note, iMessage and WhatsApp usually work fine, as long as you’re not sending photos or videos.

Cole, have a fantastic time on your Disney Cruise! We hope to see you real soon!

    Happy sailing!
