We are going on a Disney cruise in June. One of our daughter's passports expires in September. Will her passport be okay for the cruise? I know other cruise lines want you to have a passport that is good for 6 months after the end of your cruise. Thanks!

    Hello, Jennifer!

What a great question!  You are going to have such a wonderful time on your June cruise on Disney Cruise Line!

Regarding your daughter's passport's expiration date, I called Disney Cruise Line, just to be sure, and identified myself a Gold Castaway Member (we've cruised with DCL seven times and LOVE it!)  I was told that you should have your daughter's raised seal birth certificate with you as well as her passport, which expires in a few months, as a precaution.  In addition, I was told that the repositioning cruises, however, would absolutely require passengers to have passports which are valid for over six months post-embarkation.  The reason for this is that if, God forbid, a family member becomes injured or ill and is required to stay on foreign soil for six months, that individual would need to have a valid passport in order to return to the U.S.

If your cruise, however, departs from the U.S. and returns to the U.S., then the raised-seal birth certificate in addition to the "nearly" expiring passport will suffice.

Since you have the time to renew, however, I was told that your best bet is to simply renew your daughter's passport, should you be able to do so.

Have a WONDERFUL time on your Disney Cruise Line vacation!  You're sure to love the extra magic that's jam-packed into every nook and cranny of each ship!
