Our Disney cruise this June, we finally have one of our daughters over 18 and the one that we are there celebrating (high school graduation), will be 3 months away from being 18. Is there any way to request that she be allowed to go to Palo with us?

    Ahoy Renee!

A Disney cruise AND celebrating a graduation? How wonderful! Your summer sailing is sure to be a special one for you and your family. Let the fun commence!

Disney Cruise Line really wants the adult-exclusive areas on the ships to be for only adults, so unfortunately, your almost 18-year-old will have to wait until your next cruise to experience Palo. I have a similar situation with my daughter who is now old enough to experience Palo...but her younger brother is not quite there yet! My workaround I have decided on is booking a Palo brunch since that would be at a time where my son will likely be busy hanging out with friends in Vibe. Then we all can still have dinners together during our rotational dining in the main dining rooms.

I totally understand that you want to celebrate your high school graduate, so here are a few ideas to highlight this amazing achievement:

-If you haven't done so already, contact Disney Cruise Line and let them know that you will be celebrating during your upcoming voyage. They will note your daughter's graduation on your reservation. Once onboard, your Service Team will be aware of this celebration and might bring out a special dessert one evening to honor your daughter's achievements!

-How about some stateroom decorations from Onboard Gifts? These make an excellent surprise when you walk into your stateroom for the first time. Also one of the fun ways to show you are celebrating is using magnets on your stateroom door. Make some magnetized graduation signs at home with mortar boards and your daughter's picture to place on your door.

-Schedule a professional Portrait Studio session! Another crafty idea would be to have matching t-shirts made for your family to wear in honor of her graduation and get photos made together at one of the character meet and greets.

-Book a a reservation for her once onboard at Chill Spa (part of Senses Spa and Salon) which offers various spa treatments like facials, massages, manicures and pedicures for guests ages 13-17.

Cruise by the Disney Parks Moms Panel again if you think of more questions. Congratulations to your soon-to-be graduate and best wishes for your upcoming cruise!

    Bon Voyage!
