    If we take a Disney cruise this July 2023 to the Bahamas do we need passports?

    Hi Patricia, 

    Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for asking us a question! You must be so excited for your cruise this month! 

    Although Disney Cruise Line does encourage Guests to carry a passport with them during their voyage, if your cruise to the Bahamas is a Round Trip (or “closed loop”) voyage, any US Citizens in your travel party don’t need to have a passport in order to set sail. What they’ll need instead would be an original or copy of their state-issued birth certificate AND a physical Government-issued photo ID. This means that digital or mobile state-issued identification will not allow you to board your cruise. 

    Please note that children 15 years of age and younger don’t need to present a photo ID – they only need to present a state-issued birth certificate if they don’t have a passport. Plus, if there are any non-US citizens in your party, they’ll probably need to carry their passports with them.
