We have a Disney credit card that we use all the time. Will there be an international transaction fee if we provide this card for ship charges on our British Isles cruise (I know if we use it off ship there is)? We do have another no fee card also.

    Hi Kathy,

Welcome back to planDisney and thank you for asking us another great question about your upcoming British Isles cruise on the Disney Dream. I sailed on the Disney Magic in the Mediterranean a few years ago, and I had questions about how currency would work onboard, too.

My friend Lauren has already given you some details about how currency exchange works onboard, but if I understand your question correctly, you’d like to know what currency will be used for onboard purchases. I’m happy to say that all shipboard transactions are handled in US dollars. This means that you shouldn’t see any international transaction fees on your credit card statement for any of those purchases.

Don’t forget that pre-paying your gratuities online is a great way to make sure that you don’t need to worry about taking care of that part of your voyage while you’re on holidays! And because they’re part of your shipboard transactions, they’ll be charged in US dollars too!

As always, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions. We’re always happy to help!

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
