Is the Disney Caribbean Beach Resort a nice choice for a first visit with two kids (5&13)? I'm almost tempted to choose something else because of such mixed reviews.

My family stayed at Caribbean Beach for our very first stay years ago, Natasacha, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.  As one of Disney's moderate resorts, it offers fairly standard accommodations for a reasonable price.  There are also fun theming elements like the Spanish fortress main pool and steel-drum island music.  Are there other resort hotels at Walt Disney World that offer more spacious rooms and upgraded amenities?  For sure.  If you're looking to stay within the moderate category, though, I happen to think you've made a great choice.  One thing is for certain: you will always hear mixed reviews on all aspects of Disney travel.  I recommend familiarizing yourself with the property by viewing photos and reading about amenities.  If you think that Caribbean Beach is well-suited for your family, then give it a try and don't look back.  Enjoy your trip!

Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists.
