Hey there Kelly, and welcome to planDisney!
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort has definitely become popular for its campers who diligently decorate their sites and vehicles for the holidays, often witnessed by those coming to enjoy some of the
great recreational activities on offer that are just as available to visiting day guests! A Cast Member at the resort confirmed that for most of the year, guests are welcome to
utilize the complimentary resort buses that operate within the campgrounds but as of June 2024 the
Golf Cart Rental policies have been updated to restrict third-party vendors from providing these, as well as restricting these to registered guests. (As policies are always subject to change without prior notice, you're always welcome to
contact their reservations line directly for any updates or clarification.)
Something else to keep in mind from my personal experience last year, is that Cast Members also began restricting access to visiting day guests closer to Halloween, requiring them to provide confirmation that they are indeed staying at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort or have a reservation that they could show before they could board transportation or access parking. (This also appears to be the case during the most popular times of the year including the holiday season, and just this past April
the Halfway to Halloween festivities from the year prior had been discontinued with day guest access restricted nonetheless. At the current time there's no telling as to how early this may once again be imposed on those looking to pop by for a visit, so this may be something to be mindful of before you attempt to head over!)
It might be a great idea to have a booking to the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue to enjoy during your visit, and I've observed guests strolling around to view some of these decorations earlier in the month as they visit for perhaps an afternoon
paddling a canoe,
honing their archery skills or enjoying a
Wilderness Back Trail Adventure by Segway! Sadly due to ongoing construction projects, horseback riding offerings are not available and not expected to return until November.
I hope this helps, Kelly! Be sure to keep an eye on the
