Hi Thomas!
Thanks for using planDisney as a resource to answer your question regarding MagicBands.
I'm happy to hEAR you have an upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation. March will be here before you know it, and magical moments are just waiting for you at The Most Magical Place on Earth.
MagicBands are colorful, waterproof wristbands that can be used to interact with your
My Disney Experience account. MagicBands can be used to:
- Enter theme parks and water parks (with valid admission and theme park reservation)
- Connect
Disney PhotoPass photos to your My Disney Experience account
- Automatically upload on-ride attraction photos to your Photo Gallery from 13 Walt Disney World attractions- Unlock the door of a Disney Resorts Collection hotel room (Disney Resorts Collection hotel guests only)- Charge purchases to a Disney Resorts Collection hotel room (Disney Resorts Collection hotel guests only)
Only Guests of
Disney Resorts Collection hotels are able to use their MagicBand as a form of payment, as it is connected to their stored credit card on their hotel account. MagicBands are not
directly connected to any form of payment, such as a credit or debit card.
If you'd like to use a MagicBand that's linked to your My Disney Experience account, you can use it to scan in for admission to all four theme parks, and also to link PhotoPass photos to your account. With so many fun Magic Bands to choose from, I like wearing one whenever I visit Walt Disney World, simply as a fashion statement!
If you don't already have existing MagicBands linked to your account, and don't want to purchase new ones, you now have access to
Disney MagicMobile - a brand new service where you can use your smartphone to interact just as a MagicBand would. Most features are available by holding up your eligible smart device near an access point, just as you do with a MagicBand. I used my Disney MagicMobile throughout my last visit, and it was so convenient and easy to use. (You'll need to have valid park admission linked to your My Disney Experience account to create a digital MagicMobile pass.)
I hope this helps with your plans and preparations for your upcoming trip. Please come back and visit us here at planDisney if you have more questions before you arrive!
Have a magical day!
Diane W.
