Hiya, Brenda! It sounds like you are planning a wonderful trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth with your children and grandchildren. My kids' first Disney vacation was at
Disneyland Resort with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Such a special time. You are all creating core memories for sure!
With its whoozits and whatzits galore, the
My Disney Experience App will be one of your favorite gadgets and gizmos as you plan and when you are visiting
Walt Disney World Resort. It is really easy to connect with your family, but there are a few steps for
MyDisney accounts for children under 13. These accounts are not transferrable, meaning the person who creates the account will be the only person who can manage it.
The parents can set up their children's accounts without downloading the app.
- Log in to the Walt Disney World site with their own MyDisney account. If they do not have a MyDisney account, they can create one by selecting "Sign In or Create Account" at the top of the page.
- Go to "My Disney Experience" and select "My Family & Friends" from the drop-down list.
- Select "+ Add a Guest" and look for "Add a new Guest who does not have a MyDisney account."
- Select "Create a Profile You Will Manage" and enter the Guest's information.
While they are online, have them check to make sure they are sharing their connected Guests. On the "My Family & Friends List" page, they can check the settings of their profile by selecting "List & Search Settings." If the button next to "Share your Family & Friends list so it's easier for people you may know to connect with you and with each other" is grey, they can toggle it to green.
If you are connected to your children on the app, you should be able to find and connect with your grandchildren's accounts easily. Follow the steps to get to "+ add a Guest" and on the page to enter Guest information, you should see their accounts under the list of "Guests You May Know." Since they are under 13, an email will be sent to the account owner for permission to connect.
Typed out, it may look like a lot of steps, but it is quick and easy.
Have you looked into
Memory Maker for your trip? With Memory Maker, you can access all the photos and videos taken through PhotoPass for you and up to 25 people connected to your Family & Friends list. I love this with large group trips. The pictures captured at attractions and the pictures taken by PhotoPass photographers will appear on your app. This includes all pictures of your connected family members. You can also ask the PhotoPass photographer for a Magic Shot and see a little pixie dust in the photos they take. These pictures, which capture the moments, smiles and ages of your grandchildren, are the best souvenirs.
I hope their parents can set up their MyDisney accounts easily and you all get connected. If you have any other questions, please come back to
planDisney. We're here for you!
Life is the Bubbles!
