Hey there, Shannon! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question.
Shannon, the only way to give access to your son without creating another account would be to allow him to log in to your account from his phone. However, I want to share the way that I manage this with my teenage daughter, in case it's helpful for you.
My daughter created her own
Disneyland account with her email address. She downloaded the
Disneyland mobile app, logged in to her account, and linked her ticket to her account. She has access to the functionality that she needs – scanning her ticket at the entrance, managing
Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane selections,
mobile ordering (using a Disney Gift Card) and checking wait times for attractions. Though Guests under age 18 cannot associate a credit card to their account, it hasn’t been an issue for us because she can access most of what she needs. The workaround to not having a credit card associated to her account is that we can load a Disney Gift Card that she can use to make in-app purchases.
If you create a new account for your son, once he is logged in to the app from his phone, open the app on his phone, go to Tickets and Passes, and you’ll see a “+” in the upper right corner through which you can link his ticket.
I hope this is helpful, Shannon! Have a wonderful trip with your son,
Kamini
