Hiya, Deana!
I'm so glad you've found your way to planDisney! Doesn't being a
Walt Disney World Annual Passholder make you feel like an official Mousketeer? Not only are you as welcome as can be at Walt Disney World theme parks throughout the year, but you can also
enjoy special offers, discounts, and exclusive merchandise reserved just for Annual Passholders. How cool that you've got a new Annual Pass ready and waiting for your next visit!
Since your arrival is still months away, I understand your concern about accidentally activating your Annual Pass before you arrive. You don't need to worry, though –– your pass won't be activated till the first time you tap your pass (and see that magical purple light) at a Walt Disney World theme park entrance. That means you can use log into your Disney Account and take advantage of all the exciting planning features, like making your
Disney Park Pass reservations and creating a
Disney MagicMobile pass, that the
My Disney Experience app has to offer before your visit.
Unfortunately, MagicBands are no longer complimentary for Disney Resort Guests and Annual Passholders, so you won't automatically receive one for your new Annual Pass. However, if you'd like to use a MagicBand for your upcoming stay, you're welcome to purchase one. To do this, hover over the "My Disney Experience" tab on the
Walt Disney World website and select "My Magic Bands and Cards" from the drop-down menu. Scroll until you see your Annual Pass and click on the blue "Edit Order" button. After you select the Guest that you'll be placing an order for, you can follow the onscreen prompts to choose your new MagicBand and confirm your purchase.
Last year, we also learned that big changes are coming to MagicBands, when
Disney announced that the next-generation MagicBand+ would be coming soon to Walt Disney World Resort. In addition to all the MagicBand features you love, these bands will unlock interactive in-park experiences for an extra sprinkle of magic. How cool is that?! Since you have plenty of time before your visit, you may want to hold off on ordering a MagicBand to see if this new option becomes available before you arrive. Be sure to keep an eye on
Disney Parks Blog for all the latest MagicBand+ news and updates.
Thanks for visiting planDisney, Deana. If you think of new Disney vacation planning questions, I hope you'll stop by again –– we're always here to help!
Have a Magical Day,
Amy
