Ahoy there, Michelle!
Welcome back to planDisney! I have to admit, my crew and I are just a little bit Goofy-green with envy over your upcoming Alaskan adventure aboard
the Wonder. Alaska is one of those places that takes your breath away with every glacier, waterfall, and whale tail—and I can already tell your July sailing is going to be snow much fun!
Now, let’s talk tech! You’ll be happy to know that yes, you can absolutely
use your MagicBand+—or
DisneyBand+ as we call them on the high seas—on the Wonder. In fact, all ships in the Disney fleet are now equipped with the magic to support DisneyBand+. Just be sure you’ve got the “plus” version, because the earlier, non-rechargeable MagicBands (the ones without the light-up and haptic features) won’t work onboard.
But don’t worry if not everyone in your sailing party has one! Every Guest is still given a
Key to the World card when you board, and it works just as well for opening your stateroom door, charging onboard purchases, and accessing your photo package.
I personally love using my DisneyBand+—especially when I’m
coming back from Cabanas with my hands full of Mickey waffles and coffee. That touch-to-unlock feature is a real hero moment, and it feels a bit like I’m Iron Man accessing Stark Tech when it opens the stateroom door with just a flick of the wrist. You can also use it to check in for onboard activities, disembark and reboard at ports of call, and—of course—unlock a few magical surprises throughout the ship. Keep your eyes open for lights and vibrations… there’s a bit of Disney magic sprinkled in just for fun!
A quick tip if you’re sailing with tweens or teens: while DisneyBand+ is great for most Guests, those attending Edge or Vibe will still need to use their Key to the World card for club access. Cast Members will place a special sticker on their card after registration, and that’s their ticket in. Maybe one day that will switch over to DisneyBand+ too, but for now, it's old-school cool for the older kids.
I hope this helps you feel one step closer to your epic northern voyage! Just don’t be surprised if you start humming Let It Go while watching a glacier calve from your verandah. And hey, don't forget to pack layers—you'll want to be ready for a day of ice, followed by an evening of Beauty and the Beast onstage.
Sea ya real soon with a splash of April fun and a boatload of Disney magic,
Dustin
