Does Disney Alaska cruise in May 2026 have an indoor pool? If not would a pool for children always be available?

    Hello, Alison,

Welcome to one of the biggest adventures out there: a Disney Cruise Line vacation to Alaska! My family's first Disney cruise was to Alaska. We had never been on a cruise before. And we didn't think we'd ever be on another one again. But, more than a decade later, here we are, already Platinum Castaway Club members. Needless to say, we were thoroughly hooked on the Disney cruise lifestyle.

Our first Disney cruise to Alaska was a little later in the season. So it might have been a bit warmer than what you might experience next May. Except for the day we sailed through a narrow passage to get an up-close view of a glacier, we found most days of our cruise to be quite warm. The day we visited Ketchikan was pretty hot. So outdoor temperatures during our cruise varied quite dramatically. The moral of the story for cruising to Alaska: pack for a range of weather possibilities and dress is multiple layers.

Now, let's address your question about pools and swimming. Whether you are sailing on the Disney Wonder or the Disney Magic you will have access to multiple pools and water play or relaxation areas. My children loved sliding down the Twist 'n' Spout slide. And the Disney Magic also includes the AquaDunk slide. All of the pool and water play areas are located outside on deck 9, with the entrances to the water slides on deck 10. The pool areas are pretty well protected from strong winds. If the outside temperatures dip a bit lower, the pool water is heated to a comfortable temperature. And the hot tubs are even warmer! The pools are normally open every day. In the case of more inclement weather, pools may be temporarily closed. But, generally, the children in your party will have lots of opportunities to soak up the fun in Alaska. Be sure to pack your sunscreen!

Thank you for bringing us this wonderful question, Alison. If you have any more questions as you continue to prepare for your adventure to Alaska: the last frontier, I hope you'll visit us again.

    Happy sailing, Alison!
    ~Tony
