How does Disney accommodate a guest with a severe food allergy?

    Hi Kim!

Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for stopping by with a great question!

We have two girls with food allergies and one of them has four significant food allergies. She absolutely loves dining at Walt Disney World because the chefs are so fantastic with food allergies. At each restaurant, she reviews the allergy friendly options on the menu. To view those, just go the restaurant's web page and click on View Menu. Scroll down until you see the allergy-friendly options. One of our favorite restaurants is Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom. You can view the lunch and dinner menu to see their allergy-friendly options!

Also take some time to view the information on Special Dietary Requests. Here are a few additional tips. Make advanced dining reservations. When you do, be sure to indicate the food allergies on each reservation. If you forget to add them, contact a Cast Member by phone and someone should be able to add it for you. Just know that hold times by phone can be long, so it's easiest to add them when you are making the reservations online or via the My Disney Experience Mobile App.

When you arrive to a restaurant for an advanced dining reservation, the Cast Member who serves you will talk with you about your food allergies but you can also request to speak with a chef. Speaking with a chef always reassures my daughter with the most significant food allergies, especially because one of those is soy. We also tend to avoid quick-service dining using Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering. We had a snafu on our most recent visit when I ordered from Capt. Cook's via the mobile app and just wanted to check with the chef when we arrived to make sure the bread did not have soy but the Cast Member at the register told us we should have ordered in person if we had food allergies. Lesson learned! One of the chefs on duty was still wonderful and came out to help us.

Kim, we also bring snacks that she can eat, or we order from a grocery delivery service. If we purchase snacks in the parks or resorts, we only purchase fresh fruit or pre-packaged snacks so that we can read the ingredient labels. I trust you will be able to navigate with your particular food allergies. Our experience has been indicative of their award-winning allergy-friendly fare!

    Magic and memories,
    Donyell
