Hiya! Welcome to planDisney, Christopher!
Oh boy, it sounds like you're planning a visit to
Walt Disney World. How exciting! Soon enough, you will be on the adventure of a lifetime, enjoying all that Walt Disney World has to offer! Did you know that if you arrive any time before March 31st, 2023, you’ll get to enjoy
The World's Most Magical Celebration in honor of Walt Disney World's 50th? It is such a fabulous time to be in the parks, with sprinklings of EARidescent pixie dust around every corner, so I'm so excited for you to arrive to join in on the fun! Do keep an eye out for the
celebratory bites available throughout the parks. These delicious treats are only available for a limited time, so be sure to try a few before they're gone!
Now, let’s get to your question so you can get back to planning, shall we? While Walt Disney World encourages more contactless payment methods, I am happy to share that you can absolutely still use cash for payments made during your visit. However, I do want to mention that in the past, I have seen one or two registers at shops and quick-service restaurants be reserved exclusively for credit cards or contactless payments. So, while you will still find a register that accepts cash, there may be a slightly longer wait in that line as there may be fewer registers available for you to use. You also won’t be able to use cash for purchases in your
My Disney Experience app like
Mobile Food and Beverage Ordering, Shop in Store app purchases, and
Disney Genie Service purchases.
As an alternative to cash, I would recommend purchasing a
Disney Gift Card to use during your visit. This way, you can make both in-person and in-app purchases super easily. You can even purchase these gift cards after you arrive with the cash you brought with you! Just an idea, Christopher, but I think it would work well for you!
I hope I have been able to help you today! Please feel free to stop by again if you have any other vacation planning questions. We here at planDisney just love helping our fellow Guests make the most of their Walt Disney World Resort vacations!
Until next time,
Diana
