How do I get to Disney?

Hiya, Carolin! Welcome back to planDisney! I’m happy to help with your transportation question.

There are many different ways to Walt Disney World Resort. Your best options, and the specific directions you'll need to get to Central Florida, will be determined by your specific starting point. But I’m happy to offer some general thoughts on how you might make your way down to the Vacation Kingdom.

If you wanted to drive, then you are likely going to take Interstate 75 or 95 south from Georgia and towards the Orlando area. Again, the step-by-step directions will vary depending on where you’re starting from, but rest assured that there is plenty of parking for your vehicle once you arrive. In fact, guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels get free overnight parking for the length of their stay.

Maybe a road trip isn’t your speed and you’ll be flying to Florida. Your flight will likely land at Orlando International Airport (also known as MCO). There are a lot of different ways to get from MCO to Walt Disney World, including rental cars, ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft, and airport shuttles that you can book to get you from the airport to a Walt Disney World Resort hotel or Disney Springs.

Fun fact: It would take an estimated 7 days to walk from Atlanta to Walt Disney World Resort, but only 2 days on a bicycle. Either way, I think I’d be too tired to walk around World Showcase at EPCOT afterwards.

Once you arrive at Walt Disney, there are numerous complimentary transportation options available to help you make the most of your vacation. There is a complimentary bus service, water taxis, the monorail, and Disney Skyliner, as well as Minnie Van service from Lyft. The best tool to help you navigate and know if traveling by air, land, or sea is the best option will be the My Disney Experience mobile app. The app provides step-by-step directions to most locations across Walt Disney World, as well as estimated travel times and it will display every available vehicle option based on your starting point and destination.

Carolin, I hope this information is useful and helps with your vacation planning. Feel free to pop back to planDisney with any other questions, and our amazing group of expert panelists will be happy to help

    Magical travels!
