On disembarkation day, what time do we need to leave the ship?

Ahoy there, Barbara! Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for taking the time to stop by with your question.

I’m delighted to see you will be sailing the high seas aboard a Disney cruise next week! I bet you’re getting excited and finishing up any last-minute packing. There’s so much to do once you’re on your cruise and I hope you’ll be able to find time for some rest and relaxation as well.

As the saying goes, “All good things must come to an end” and it’ll be sad when you and your family have to bid farewell on Debarkation Day. I know my kids get teary on the last morning, especially when they have to say goodbye to all their new friends they have met at the Youth Clubs. One thing we do while we’re still on the cruise is to book a Placeholder Reservation. This is an onboard-only booking offer where you pay a $250 deposit (may be subject to change). The Placeholder Reservation is an open-ended reservation for a future cruise within 24 months at a 10% savings off prevailing rates on Disney Cruise Line website. Knowing we have a sailing in the near future makes the post-cruise blues a bit better!

Disney Cruise Line asks all Guests to vacate their staterooms on Debarkation Day by 8 AM. This allows stateroom stewards enough time to prepare for the next sailing. If you are not in a rush to leave the ship, you can enjoy a sit-down breakfast at the same rotational dining restaurant where you had dinner the evening before. Your same dining room team will be there to serve you breakfast. The breakfast schedule correlates to your dinner seating; early seating’s breakfast is typically at 6:45 AM while late seating is served breakfast around 8 AM.

The speediness of the debarkation process depends on how full the sailing is, but usually by 9:30 AM, most Guests will have already gotten off the ship. The Crew Members will be busy getting the ship in tip-top shape for a new group of excited cruisers, so please be mindful if you plan to linger a bit longer. Also, be sure to listen for announcements for when to debark the ship, especially if you have taken advantage of Disney Cruise Line’s luggage service and left your bags in the hallway for pick-up the evening before.

I wish you and your family a fun and safe sailing! Please enjoy a churro Mickey waffle for me.

    Bon voyage,
    Kiki

Meet the Panelist: Kiki, California

Greetings! I have been fascinated by the magic of Disney since I was a little girl; now that I am a mother of two, I love watching my children experience Disney Parks through their own eyes. I am also surrounded by fellow Disney-loving nurse friends whom I enjoy quick adults-only Disneyland Resort escapes or Disney Cruise Line voyages with. Whether you are planning your once-in-a-lifetime family trip or a short adults-only getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth, I am here to help!
