Hi Susan!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Mine is a Military Family too, so let me first say a big 'Thank You!' for your service! We're at that stage in my husband's career where we need to heavily weigh the decision to sign a new contract or to separate after this one ends, and I'll be honest, I kind of want him to stay in just for the shopping discounts.
The specially priced U.S. Military Salute Walt Disney World Resort Theme Park Tickets are currently available for those who are Active Duty, Reservists, and Retirees, both of 20+ years of service or who are 100 percent service-connected disabled. Same with the Military Rates at a
Disney Resort Hotel.
Shades of Green, which is an Armed Forces Recreation Center located on Walt Disney World Resort property, does offer hotel rooms to non-retired Veterans. These rooms are huge, I've heard nothing but wonderful things about all of the dining options, and they even have a small exchange that has a small selection of Disney souvenEARs that are sales tax-free.
Check out the
Special Offers, Deals & Discounts that Mickey himself offers to everyone. Some of these are an even better value than a military room + ticket discount, like the very popular 'Free Dining' package. And don't forget to look for offers in other places, like through your current job, your points-based credit cards, travel club memberships and even memberships to warehouse club stores.
I hope this helped, Susan, and we hope to see you real soon!
