Hello, Veronica!
It's great to meet you, thanks for visiting us here at planDisney! I often visit the Disneyland Resort with my own big club of Mouseketeers, so I know it can be challenging to come with a large family. But it's also totally magical and so worth the effort!
You can see any current discounts on the
"Offers & Discounts" page of the Disneyland website! At the moment, I see a hotel discount in addition to discounts for eligible US Military members. I recommend checking around to see if you're associated with any groups who may be able to purchase discounted tickets—an employer, a collective bargaining organization, a military service benefits organization, or a local community organization such as credit unions, schools, or community centers might be possibilities.
Have you picked a place to stay yet? I would recommend taking a look at the
Good Neighbor Hotels, many of them are within walking distance and have rooms that can accommodate larger families.
When it comes to doing Disneyland on a budget, there are a few different things we like to do:
- Bring your own snacks! We always buy a churro...or two...but I love to pack snacks like grapes, baby carrots, crackers, and granola bars to keep us fueled up and happy. Some hard candy helps us get through long lines, too!
- Take your own refillable water bottle and refill it at the water refilling stations around the park.
- Share some larger meals. My kids often share an order of chicken tenders from the Stage Door Cafe, and I have never managed to finish a treat from the Ghirardelli® Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop without the help of my kids.
- Have a souvenir budget for kids. I like to take pictures of things my kids are considering during the day, along with their price tags, so my kids can look through the photos towards the end of the day and decide how to spend their shopping money.
I hope some of these ideas help you plan a great trip for your family, Veronica! Sending lots of pixie dust for safe travels!
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
