Dan from NY Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Are there any discounts for department of defense civilian employees?

    Hi Dan,
Thanks for joining us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question!

As you might recall, in 2018 the Walt Disney World Resort did a test program whereby DoD civilians and contractors were permitted to purchase Military Promotional Tickets for themselves, their families, and friends.  I don't know about you, but I took advantage of this program as a DoD civilian-those tickets are such a fantastic deal!

We still don't know if this offer will be extended to DoD civilians this year; it was announced last year in mid-September.  Your local Public Affairs office should send out an announcement if this offer is extended for 2019.

The Walt Disney World Resort does not extend any additional discounts for DoD personnel.  However, Shades of Green does allow DoD civilians to stay in their resort (this is subject to change at any time and without notice).  Shades of Green guests are currently welcome to participate in Extra Magic Hours and may choose FastPass+ selections 60 days prior to their arrival when your Shades of Green reservation number is entered into My Disney Experience.

Dan, I hope I was able to answer your question and offer you some good alternatives.  Please come back and visit us again with any additional questions.

    Best Wishes,
    Amy S.
