Hi Debbie!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm so glad that you stopped by with a question for us!
As a
Disney Vacation Club Member, you already know about all of the great benefits of being a member. So much so that it sounds like you're ready to add more points to your membership. How exciting!
The Use Year of your contract marks the time each year that you will receive a new allotment of Vacation Points. Since it directly effects when your points become available, I would think that the disadvantage of having two contracts with a different Use Year would simply be that all of your Vacation Points will not become available at the same time. For instance if you have one contract of 200 points with a February Use Year and another contract of 200 points with an August Use Year, then you would not be able to make a reservation for more than 200 points without having to borrow from one of the contracts. Of course the exception to this would be unless it was after the points from the second contract become available. If you don't feel like you'll take many vacations using the points from both contracts, then it really shouldn't make a big difference to you. For ease of use and for the sake of simplicity, I would say to choose a contract with the same Use Year though.
I would definitely speak with your Disney Vacation Club Guide to talk through the different options before making your decision. They are certainly more knowledgeable on this subject and can help you compare all of the different scenarios. It's a big decision, and I definitely want you to make the right choice for your family's needs!
Please let us know if we can help with anything else. We're always happy to help. Good luck finding the right contract and enjoy vacationing with all of those new points!
