Hiya Debbie,
Welcome to
planDisney! I was just having a conversation with my Prince Charming earlier about military tickets. When I was little, going to Walt Disney World was a special treat that didn’t happen frequently. I still remember picking up our discounted tickets on base with my mom and getting excited about our visit! I love that the special discounted tickets still exist today and that more military families get to enjoy all the magic of the parks together!
As a retired United States military member, your nephew should qualify to purchase
Military Salute Tickets. The current criteria for eligibility are active duty or retired US military service members, which include National Guard, US Coast Guard, US Space Force, Reservists, Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service, Commissioned Corp of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and veterans who have 100% disability status. Eligible Service Members (and their spouses) are able to purchase up to six Theme Park tickets a year at the special offer rate, which can be shared with family and friends. At least one of the six Theme Park tickets must be used by your nephew (or their spouse), but the remaining five can be shared. Note that your nephew must accompany you or anyone using the tickets to show his valid and active US Military ID to activate the tickets. Tickets can be purchased at his nearest participating military installation’s ticket office, through Shades of Green, or at a ticket window at Walt Disney World!
I hope this was helpful, Debbie. Before I let you go, if you or your nephew have more specific questions about eligibility, I would be happy to help however I can. That said, I also highly suggest reaching out to the
Shades of Green ticketing office. They are always super helpful and can help you figure out which military ticket offers, if any, your nephew is eligible for if the Salute tickets aren’t the right fit. As I mentioned, your nephew can also purchase tickets through them, and those tickets arrive already activated for added convenience.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
