Hi Dana,
Welcome to planDisney!
The happy news is that you are planning a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort! I am delighted to say that there are several
Services for Guests with Disabilities including
wheelchair rentals and
Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) rentals. Know that they are rented on a first-come, first-serve basis at the theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. So, arrive early to increase your chances of renting one. There is also a Disney Featured Provider, ScooterBug, that could drop off a wheelchair or ECV at your resort hotel. Given that many resort hotels are expansive, you may want to consider this option so that you have the mobility device with you at all times.
My husband had to use an ECV on one of our prior visits and the rental process was efficient. Be sure to review the
Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities so that you know which attractions will allow you to remain in your ECV or wheelchair. Consider the items that you will carry with you in the ECV or wheelchair. On one day that my husband had an ECV, it poured down rain for 20 minutes while we were in line for an attraction. Luckily, our items were ok, but I wished we had covered them in some way to better protect them from the weather.
As you continue to plan, be sure to take a look at the Guides for Guests with Disabilities.-
Magic Kingdom,
EPCOT,
Disney's Hollywood Studios, and
Disney's Animal Kingdom. These guide maps also include locations of Relaxation Stations, areas where you can take a short break from wearing your face covering. If you need assistance for other reasons, stop by Guest Relations and speak with a Cast Member.
Dana, I hope this helps! Review the
operational updates since rental availability, policies, and procedures could change. In the meantime, collect your superhero crew, pack the matching gear, and get ready for an
Incredible Disney Day!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
