how is the dinning plan works

    Welcome to planDisney, Kelly!

My family is filled with foodies, so when we visit Walt Disney World, we're all about Disney Dining Plans. Let's dig in!

Currently, there are two Dining Plans available as a package for guests of Walt Disney World Resort hotels; in 2027, there will be a third. Think of these Dining Plans like a bank account: all of your meals and snacks go into your account, ready for you to enjoy at your leisure. Take a look at this Disney Dining Plans: How-To Guide to learn how to get a dining plan, how to use it, and how to keep track of your meals and snacks throughout your stay.

We love that we are pre-paying for our meals and snacks, and that lets us order some absolutely outstanding meals without having to worry about the cost. It's easy to see what's included, too. For snacks, for example, you'll see a small DDP image listed next to any item that counts as a snack on the plan. Getting the biggest bang for our DP buck is a game-changer, too, as some truly outstanding options count as a snack on these plans. I'm not getting a little bag of chips as my snack on this plan. I'm getting the Warm Cinnamon Roll from Gaston's Tavern. So good--and included as a snack on the Dining Plan!

When looking at your Dining Options, you can easily see if a location participates in the Dining Plan by checking online. Very many do, but there are some that do not, so check before arriving. There are so many Quick-Service locations throughout the parks and hotels, you won't believe your options. Looking for Table-Service? Tons of those as well. Some Table-Service locations are a bit more upscale, so require using 2 TS meals to dine. You can check that on the restaurant's page on the WDW site; click "View Dining Plans and Discounts" and you'll see if that location uses 1 or 2 meals at different times of the day. We'll use a 2 TS meal on trips when we arrive at the resort too late for dinner or leave too early for any meal on the last day. It's like a splurge that did not cost anything extra. We love it!

All Dining Plans come with a Resort-Refillable Drink Mug per person--a great savings while there and a wonderful souvenir once it's time to head home. Spending time by the pool? Refill that mug. Heading out for a day of park fun? Stop for some freshly-brewed coffee, tea, or hot chocolate before you depart. Parched from a day of park-hopping fun? Fill that mug up with iced tea, lemonade, a variety of sodas and other soft drinks as you come "home" for the night. It's included!

Kelly as you explore your options for your visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth, be sure to send additional questions our way. We love to help!
