Hi, Evelyn! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
You will be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort at such an exciting time! Many guests, myself included, are eager to explore Black Spire Outpost on the Planet Batuu when
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens at
Disney's Hollywood Studios this fall. Anticipation for this immersive new land is extremely high, so I understand your concern regarding a possible park closure due to capacity.
Although theme park closures due to capacity level crowds are rare at the Walt Disney World Resort, they do happen from time to time. When crowds near capacity, closures will take place in phases.
Annual Passholders,
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guests, and guests with in-park appointments or
dining reservations will be among the last to be turned away. When the closure reaches the last phase, no one will be permitted to enter the park due to fire codes; however, this last closure phase is extremely rare.
My best advice to you is to arrive at Disney's Hollywood Studios as early as possible so that you are inside the park before a capacity closure could become an issue. While you will most likely be able to enter the park with your dining reservation, I spoke to a Cast Member to see what you should do if, by some chance, the park reaches the final, complete closure stage. The Disney Dining Cast Member I talked to said in this situation, you would need to talk to
Guest Relations to inquire about having the no-show fee waived.
I do hope you will have the opportunity to enjoy your dinner at
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant. The food there is delicious, and the theming is so much fun! It is a favorite in my family; my kids love dining in those classic cars.
Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
Samantha
